Pandemic Portraits: since 2020, I have been working on a series of paintings titled “Pandemic Portraits,” focusing on portraits of women during the pandemic period. These works capture not only the external appearance of the subjects but also the inner emotions and experiences lived through this unique historical time. Using soft colors and gentle lighting, the portraits evoke a sense of introspection and isolation, reflecting the feelings of loneliness and resilience that many people have felt. Each painting tells a story of quiet strength and vulnerability, representing the human spirit during a time of uncertainty.

The first Pandemic Portrait: I made “Blue Portrait” during just before the emergency began: my fiancée and I traveled to Paris, where she bought the beret she’s wearing in the portrait. We couldn’t have imagined what was about to happen at the start of this period of isolation, but we were already feeling very concerned.
